So you can have your “operators” book time to work orders as they work on jobs and their hourly cost rate is then applied to that product or service.

There is an optional service work order which covers non-product related activities within the system. Production work orders consume items and produce one or more products. Service work orders also consume items but do not produce products but can create invoices (e.g. time and materials jobs).

• Admin and System Settings Company setting contain the parameters that determine the operation of the system. Also, the lists for the choices on the drop-down lists from through out the system are specified here. The reason for specifying the choices in on the drop down lists in the company settings area is to ensure that all your users work consistently with company policy. For instance, if your company supports payment terms of only ‘30 days net’ and ‘14 days -2%’, then it is not possible for any user to select any other alternative when creating a sales order.

• Invoicing Sales invoices can contain four different types of invoices lines:

• Production When creating a new work order, the user is prompted to select from planned operation elements from the planning system. Each of these operation elements is created by a sales order or by a work order of a product higher in the production process. Each element is based on the operation template for the manufactured item. In this way it is possible to closely tie work orders to customer sales orders. If the work order quantity is greater than the total for all the elements, then the remaining quantity in the work order is unallocated. This unallocated quantity may be allocated by the resource planning system automatically at any time that the work order is open.

• Warehouse The sales order dispatch process is for removing finished goods from inventory and shipping them to customers. During the dispatch process it is possible to produce inventory pick lists, shipping papers and Proforma invoices. Also the serial numbers and/or lot numbers of goods are recorded if appropriate.

• Purchasing Purchase orders are created from the purchase order main menu. When entering a purchase order it is necessary to specify both line and header information, but the order in which you do this is unimportant. While the purchase order is being created it has a status of ‘Under Construction’ during which time data that is entered is saved but not checked for validity. When the purchase order is ‘Activated’ then the validity and completeness of the data is checked, the purchase order number allocated and the purchase order is scheduled into the resource planning system. (Depending on the complexity of the purchase order and factory operations, a purchase orders may need several minutes to be activated.)

• Sales Sales in Manu Online – Sales orders are created from the sales order main menu or can be created by copying an existing order. While the sales order is being created it has a status of ‘Under Construction’ during which time data that is entered is saved but not checked for validity.
