Saas (Software as a service)
We have extensive experience in what it means to have your business system running as a web application. With a history going back 10 years, Manu Online was one of the first application to be built from the ground up as a web application.
Web applications have been now extensively used in the banking and insurance industries, so the security of them is well established.
Saas means that servers are kept in a central data centre and users access them over a remote connection using an internet browser
Manu Online users need only a browser and internet connection to use the system. Our customers do not have the worry and expense of maintaining their own servers, effectively this work is out sourced to us.
Saas enables powerful ERP systems in smaller companies
By renting ERP applications such as Manu Online from a service provider, companies can achieve faster implementation, lower start-up costs, lower running cost and more secure data storage than compared to tradition purchased IT systems.
The costs of using an Saas system are predictable. There are no up-front investments in IT infrastructure. Typically existing workstations and networks are suitable and there is no need for new servers or server operating systems.
By using an Saas system, companies can concentrate on their own business objectives; IT matters are in the hands of IT professionals. When implementing Manu Online, companies should choose as key user a person who is an expert in their business processes rather than an IT person.
Saas increases reliability and data security
IT infrastructure is centralised in a professionally managed data centre and is shared by multiple users, in much the same way that large international organisations manage their systems. This means that equipment is of a higher standard than typically available to small companies and that duplicate equipment can be maintained. In the case of equipment failure there is no need for the customer to call out service personnel, rather the online support personnel will organise fail-over to the backup equipment, usually within minutes. The data centre itself is more secure than is possible for a small company to maintain. Manu Online is hosted in a data centre used and approved by several banks and state ministries.
Similarly upgrades are installed centrally, so there is no need for users to be involved in the deployment of upgrades apart from to determine the best use of new features.

Is this "cloud" computing?

Cloud computing is a buzz word that is sometimes used interchangeably with Saas. To be exact, we are not storing your data on a cloud data platform such as Microsoft Azure. We do not believe that these systems are yet ready for storage of critical business data. Your data is stored in its own database on database servers that are dedicated to Manu Online and completely under our control.
